Z1R indicators

I picked up a Z1R project recently, had no indicators which I have replaced with aftermarket set from Germany.
The indicator control unit has two wires which should connect to a distance sensor according to wiring diagram. There is no distance sensor unit connected.
I am getting good earth to the indicator connectors but nothing from the live when switched.
Can I bridge the two wires that should connect to the distance sensor and would this be why the indicators don’t work??
Any suggestions welcome please
Rob

have you got them set to automatic or manual operation on the l/h switch ?

Do not get bogged down with the self canceling circuit it only controls the solonoid on the LHS that allows the spring loaded control switch to centralise. The indicators will work in the auto or man position even if it is not present, my money is on your flasher unit, does the "hazard" function operate ?

Will check flasher unit . There is no Hazard switch!

Flasher unit is ok. Now the LH front and rear flash with the switch in left, right and centre position. RH didn’t work. Checked the switch unit and continuity between contacts is fine. Disconnected the handlebar switch at the connector block and the RH starts flashing as soon as ignition is switched on meaning there is no control through the handlebar switch!
Investigation continues...

what switch unit are you using ? a Z1000 HB switch or the original Z1R unit wiv the great lump underneath for the solonoid and a 3 position slide switch on the top

Original Z1R wit the lump. Switch is totally disconnected. But when I turn in the ignition the left hand indicators flash.
I have checked continuity of earth and the green wire and grey wire circuit from front indicator to back indicator.

Rob just an idea but make sure the green/orange from the ignition switch aint goin somehwere it should not, it powers the hazard circuit

Yeah its powering the green circuit somewhere as soon as ignition is switched on. Bit grey circuit won’t work even the continuity is good. Crossed wires somewhere I suspect, have to keep looking

Bit grey circuit won’t work even the continuity is good.

You can take this with a bit of salt, but I've seen continuity where there is no usable current, due to a fault/ poor connection, if that makes sense.
The slightest continuity will register on a volt meter. Perhaps if you put the circuit under load say with a bulb and a battery and check the resistance, then compare it to the circuit that is working again under the same load. The Ohm readings should be similar if the wires and connections are sound...I think?

Duh...  . realised the switch was set to hazard so that’s the reason for the flashing when ignition turned on (although only the green circuit).
Bike is on the table so couldn’t see the markings until I got in the steps.
So switch set to Manual position but nothing when indicators are selected.
Put a battery on the rear indicators and both grey and green circuits work (front and rear indicators come on). So I know the continuity is good and circuit is good on grey and green.
Will check power supply to switch connector today.

Could it be the turn signal control unit?

nope that has no function with the actual lights it just counts analogue pulses or time then triggers the solonoid, whatever it is its either a wire or the HB switch itself

I am only getting about 9volts at the loom connector. Could that be the reason ie, the indicators need 12volts?
