Can anyone recommend a good tank paintwork firm who could repaint a 74 Z1A tank please?
I live in Hertfordshire so would prefer somewhere local, or London if possible, but any suggestions would be appreciated
Any idea of typical costs also. The tank is in good shape generally
Thx
Hugh

'Just' the tank?... given the variations in even the same factory colours you might be better to have all the panels painted at the same time.
Guy I use up here in the norf' charges around £600 for a zed paint set.

I agree that if you don't do the panels and tail at the same time you may never be happy with the colour match.
My Z1A paintset was done by Gary at Spraypoint, who I believe are now in Chelmsford. I don't know the cost as it was commissioned by the previous owner, but its an excellent job. The stripes are painted rather than vinyl.

Do you know if he does modern stuff? I guess he will but is it something he does regularly. I have a side fairing that is no longer available and want to see if anything can be done to renovate it without full painting. Cheers

Thanks all. I had thought to get a match I'd probably need the set doing, but had wanted to keep it as original as possible. I m not even convinced to have it painted at all. The bike is largely unrestored. Thanks for the replies, appreciated.

If you can stretch to it buy a repro set and keep the original.

Below is my old Z1B. Paint is factory original however when the bike arrived it had a large sticker on the top of the tank that with the best will in the world wouldn't come off without bringing some of the lacquer with it. Painter was able to flat this area and re-lacquer the whole tank thus retaining the original paint & stripes.
