I'll give Phil a ring tomorrow but was just wondering if anyone else is having/had issues with these splitting (z650). Second set in as many years split by where they bolt to the head. It would seem that the amount of rubber between the metal plate and the outside surface is so thin that just the road carb bounce is enough to split them. 3 out of 4 have split on this set and 2 out of 4 on the previous. No wonder it was running like shit!

Re: Zpower carb inlet rubbers issue
Update, spoken to Phil and as usual great service, genuine ordered and given a bit of additional discount for hassle.
Phil has not heard or had any feedback re this issue however it may be related to using stacks as opposed to airbox thus the carbs are not supported both sides so carb bounce is exagerated.
My advice go straight for genuine items if your using stacks or pods.

Even the genuine ones can split from the weight of unsupported carbs when losing the airbox.
The aftermarket boots do split quicker though.
I always rig up some sort of support to reduce the chance.

Hhmmm, I'll have to get my design hat on and figure something engineering asthetic. Not a fan of bungee straps.

Something like one of these plates which bolt to the carb tops and modified with a tie bar attachment to the frame tubes under the tank would be the neatest solution.

Kinda A4 ish. When the holders turn up I'll dig out some ally sheet and a fret saw!

Small 6mm tie rod with rose joints at either end.
That's what I used to use on my Martin Zed with CR35's, so I suppose it could work on standard Mik carbs too.

Aww, that sounds interesting. Cam cover bolts to mix chamber cap bolts?

Re: Zpower carb inlet rubbers issue
Ok, oem items arrived this morning. Strength difference is chalk and cheese. 99% sure I don't need to support the carbs as these are way stronger however as I started to fabricate a support already and theres bugger all else to do in lockdown I carry on.
3mm ally plate with holes for carb intakes fits on before the stacks. Question is, a hanger above or a prop below?

Re: Zpower carb inlet rubbers issue
Finished although as I said I don't think its nessecary with oem rubbers but having gone to the trouble to make it I thought I might as well belt and braces it and fit it.
