Z1000 MK II Regulator/Rectifier

#1 PostAuthor: njwmct » Fri Feb 12, 2021 2:18 pm

I've still not got around to changing the 40+ year old Regulator/Rectifier on my Z1000 MKII - part no. 21066-1008
Electrixworld £55 still appear to be out of stock - also it doesn't look to be plug & play.

This one is listed on E-bay:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VOLTAGE-REGU ... SwLQtf~CSp

Price seems very low £21 - Anyone know if these are any good ?

It is actually the correct colour for the rectifier and as the wire connections are common for both the white and the green socket the extra cost is just paying somebody to fill in the gaps in your ablities :)

I do this all the time, CX500, super wet dream or similar Shindengen SH775, never fail, always give good charging. But don't tell anyone as the prices are creeping up....
Cheers,

Mark.

Would these also work on a Kawa Triple to replace the two separate items ?

Do you mean the SH232 that I mentioned? If so, then yes.

Thanks Needaz.
I was thinking about either/both items.
I guess there must be others that would also work as many will be made to perform a similar function?

Just an update on this one.
After much investigation I've discovered that most rectifier/regulators that people claim are for the MKII will not actually fit. This is because on the MKII the unit sits behind the LH side panel inside a metal electrical box.
The standard Kawasaki unit is approx 66mm deep with little room to accommodate anything much bigger (you might get away with 70mm but the Electrex World unit for example is 80mm).

David at CY Bike came up trumps in the end as PMC offer a replacement with the same dimensions as the standard unit - part no. 81-4083

That’s good to know

On my German z1000h I had to make a small ally plate to get the electrex one to fit

Do you have a photo showing how you did it?
