Hi All,
I'm getting to the stage where I'm almost ready to reassemble the 1000R!
Frame is back several weeks and wheels should be ready soon also.
Any suggestions for tyre options?
The original tyres were 3.25-19 and 4.5-18, these are getting scarce I think. Can anyone confirm if I have the metric conversion correct at 100/90 19 & 120/90 18?
Also what brands are ye running.I think Bridgestone battleaxe come in suitable sizes, but I'm can't find a matching pair anywhere else. Are there other options?
Phil

Re: Tyre options
Hi Phil;
Been running Battlax BT45 on my Z1R for a good few years now, they tick all the boxes for me as far as grip/handling/comfort go. They're being replaced in the range by the BT46 - same deal, just slightly better wet grip I think the blurb says. They should do them in the sizes you need as well. As I say, not tried any other makes for a long time, but can recommend the Bridgestones and I think a good few other members use them as well.
Cheers, Grog.

1979 Z1R (mostly - it's been fiddled with a bit)
1977 Z650B1 - I'll get round to putting it back together one day...

Re: Tyre options
Have used Avon RoadRider tyres on my GPZ1100B2 and Z900A4 for years and standard size on both,3.25 x19 and 4.00x18 on Z900 and no wobbles even at Cadwell Trackdays. 3.25 x19 on front of Gpz1100B2 after fitting recommended tyre 100/90/19 Avon which caught mudguard when at speed which was dangerous so changed to 3.25/19 Avon which is spot on and either use 120/90/18 or 130/80/18 whichever is cheaper but 130/80/18 gives better feel, this has been used at Trackdays also. Hope this helps
Re: Tyre options
On my last tyre change at the end of 2020 - due to covid causing production issues- the only tyres I could get were BT46's.
Situation may have eased now but just something to be aware of.

Re: Tyre options
Continental do the ‘Classic Attack’ radial in the correct sizes, excellent tyres!

Thanks Alan.
Re: Tyre options
Back again!
I've found several options on a tyre website, I have to type in the specific sizes that will be suitable and then match up pairs myself. Time consuming, but what else would you do on a Monday night!
I've a few suitable options, but two potential matches are 3.25 19 with a 120/90 rear such as AVON AM26 Roadrider pair, the other is Bridgestone BT45's. I can't find a imperial or metric pair. I presume once the sizes are compatible they can be pair irrespective of the format of the size?

Re: Tyre options
You should be able to get 100/90 and 130/80 in Bridgestone as that’s what I have on all mine.
