If you had a drimmel you could cut a slot and unscrew.

Re: Screw removal
Will give it another go tomorrow, don’t want to damage the casing.

Re: Screw removal
Are you using a Phillips screwdriver or JIS? You might find that a chewed screw that won't come out with a Phillips will come out with a JIS or possibly pozidrive, as they'll get more grip.
Failing that I'd carefully drill the head off using approximately 6mm drill bit. A really badly chewed up cross head screw head will centre the bit quite safely so you can gently go at it until the head comes off clean.
Once it's apart use a good pair of mole grips (the small long nose ones would be best) to undo the rest of the screw from the top half of the switchgear.

common problem. I have used a junior hacksaw to cut a slot for a flat screwdriver. You can do this without damaging the switch but be careful. Good luck
Re: Screw removal
A good set of JIS screwdrivers is the answer (before you chew them up with a phillips).
We used to reckon jap screws were made of monkey shite but the truth is we were just using the wrong tools

Re: Screw removal
Rather than risk damaging the casings. If the heads are so badly damaged, drill the heads off, seperate the two switch halves and the remaining thread will come out easy with pliers or even fingers. Trying to cut slots with a Dremel or hacksaw is nigh on impossible in recessed housings.
Why do I persist in debating with idiots ? I really should know better
Re: Screw removal
So, thought I would try the easy outs off eBay, £2.99 and the worked a treat, drill on one side and extracted on the other. They also saved the day when the neutral switch snapped flush in the engine. So have paid for them self twice over. Cheers
