Following recent change in rules, has anyone put a black and white plate on their late 70’s zed ?

Yep, got a 650 with a black and silver plate. The other 650, 900 and 1000 all have yellow and black.

I just don't get this. Why would anyone want to put a silver /black plate on a post 73 bike? They look totally wrong. They were of their time and should remain that way. 73 onward is always yellow/black

I agree on a stock bike but there are many modified bikes out there which they suit much better.

Fair point. There is no right or wrong. all comes down to personal preference

Exactly, I changed my plate to the back & silver type because it was quite legal to do so at the time. I really can't say that it bothers me one way or the other really, I don't mind if one bike has a yellow & black plate & the next has a black & silver plate. I just did it because I could & I quite like the look of the black & silver plate.
It's no different to someone with an older bike fitting a yellow & black plate. Each to their own, some of us still have a tax disc displayed.
I think the DVLA have now closed this option now for vehicles reaching the ripe old age of forty. In fairness they never really intended to allow this to happen, it was just an oversight & they've put a stop to it now anyway.
