The first time this year and I'm out on the shaftie. Speedo/speedo drive becomes extremely noisy and the needle fluctuates wildly. I stop, when I restart the speedo does not work.
On investigation the fault is in the speedo not the cable or the drive unit.
It's an A3 model with a mechanical cable drive. I contacted Speed Cables in Swansea and they want £150 plus P&P and the VAT to investigate and repair. That's not a real problem as long as it is repairable. If not what are my options ?
As far as I can tell the complete cluster is unique to the A3 model shafty, but I'm not sure about the speedometer itself.
Or, has any had their unit replaced by a moden electronic one that looks the same as the original.

Paul
Thanks for the reply, I've sent it off to Speedycables now. I'll give an update when I've heard from them.
Sadly no pictures before I sent it.

Speedycables say it is repairable.
I'll find out what the fault was when it comes back.Thankfully in time for a bit of summer riding.

Well the speedo head came back last week. It works, and it works a lot better. There is now aboslutely no needle swing at any speed. Previously there had been needle swing above about 60mph, but now it is rock steady.
Paul Doran, I've added some pictures of the head. I'm not sure what other models it may be shared with, I cannot believe it is unique but the only other model the complete cluster is shared with as far as I know is the 1100 Sceptre model.
