Gents
I have the opportunity to purchase another z650, but it is in a bit of a state. Some questions if I may. The cylinder head could do with a vapour, or possibly bead?, blast to remove all the surface oxidation/corrosion. What is the form here please? Obviously remove the head, then what? I was thinking of replacing the cam cover, then blanking off the bottom with plywood and bung/tape the outlets/inlets to "seal" the head during any blasting. Would this be acceptable?
Secondly the headers and silencers would benefit from a re-chrome. Can anyone recommend any decent, careful plater please? An internet search doesn't throw up much....
Very many thanks
Mark

Re: Blasting and re-chroming
Best bet is strip the engine, send the casing, head, barrels and cover the Steve Smethurst, not cheapest but does a great job, ceramic polished.
Not many will chrome the full pipes, the acid damaged the internals, I had the headers re chromed, and put new slip silencers on, Leigh polishing did the headers.
