Z1000 Front engine mount bolt seized.

Hi All

The head of the front engine mount bolt is all chewed up, so I bought a shiny new one. Then I found out why it was chewed up - the bold it seized solid, presumably in the ali cases.

I have left it soaking in Plus Gas, but is there any likelihood that heat/penetrating fluid/beating to death with a hammer will prove successful, or do I drill it out from the word go?

Cheers

Glen

I'd try & avoid drilling it out unless there seems to be no other option. Drilling is more a "last resort" !

The longer you can leave the PlusGas soaking the better, I'd even apply a little heat where the bolt passes through both sides of the engine & the frame, but be careful if you are using a naked flame on the alloy for obvious reasons !! Once you've heated the areas up apply more PlusGas & repeat this a few times.
After a few days soaking undo the nut so it is flush with the end of the bolt & give it a few sharp blows with a descent sized hammer.

When you fit the new bolt put some anti-seize lube on it to prevent future issues, or grease is better than nothing.
