Float valve
Hi , Does anyone know if the float valve on the z1a/1b/900 and 1000a1 are the same in size/length, I have a a4 with z1000 carbs, but have had to bend the tangs down quite a bit more than all the other zeds, For the correct float height. Carbs had the valves in when i got it, but not sure if they are correct .

Re: Float valve
Allen's list a specific float valve for vm26, in several different flow rates.

Re: Float valve
May be able to help a little. The early z1 had different float needle valves to the z1a,b and z900. The floats were different as well, the valve listed was a 2.5 I believe. The a (mid year on) and b use a 2.0. I have recently fitted 2.0 units listed as a z650 part number to my z1a and they are fine. Regarding bending the tang, (sorry if I sound patronising and you already know), don't be fooled by the possibility a previous owner has fitted crappy valves, this happened to me, valves only lasted couple of thousand miles, springs totally failed and lost all compression. Caused rich running, flooding, plug fouling and lots smoke on start ups. The spring in the valve should be strong enough to hold the weight of the float horizontal with the carb inverted, i.e. no compression of the spring. I have found a lot of confusing/superseded part number info from Kawasaki on this subject. Generally the float tang design is such that it should be either totally in line with the rest of the float arm assembly or bent no more than its material thickness either up or down to achieve the required float height. If it exceeds this something is not right, don't forget correct thickness washer under float needle valve assembly as well! You could always cheat, depending on which way your bending the tang by adding a thicker washer!

Thanks guy's for your help and advice, The tangs are bent down about 20 degrees to the rest of the float metal
,It does run ok but is not correct, So will be pulling them off to sort out
