Refitting engine in Frame

Lads,
Advice please.
I'm reassembling the engine I have the Transmission and crank in and the crankcases together and a few of the housings fitted, the manual states I should refit the block in the frame now, I want as much room fitting the barrels and head. Will I be able to fit the engine into the frame with the head and cam cover fitted or will it be too tight?

Its do-able but fairy hard on your own and even with a few hands its tricky not to scratch the frame, iv always just put the lower end in first and rebuilt the top end in the frame but it also depends on what bike/engine.

If there's nothing much on the frame, you can lay the complete engine on its r/h side and lower the frame over it .
It's easier with the cam cover off but still best to have two people on the job.
You can also just fit the bottom end, there's plenty of room assemble the top end after.

Just as zed1015 said, I’ve just fitted my complete A1 engine into the frame by laying the engine on its right hand side and packing it level with blocks of wood.
I then recruited the help of the petticoat government to help me lift the reasonably bare frame onto the engine, it works a treat, especially if you follow the way the frame is offered up to the engine as per the photos in the manual.

Engine on side, with no cam cover on. Lower bare frame over. 2 man job.
Although as Zed1015 says- you could just fit bottom end. Then fit pitons barrels etc with engine in the frame.

Hi guys
putting the frame over the engine is a good solution if you have a bare frame.
I mount the lower engine ,with the pistons and the barrels and lift it in the frame.
In the beginning I didn't mount the pistons but it's quite a fiddling to put the pistons in the barrels when the engine is in the frame
I don't mount the oil filter cover nor the cylinderhead or the other engine covers.
It's a weight I can easy lift over the lower frametubes. I protect the frame tubes with foam insulation pipes.
Afterwards it's easy to mount the cylinderhead and the other engine parts.
The most important thing is that you lift the engine in from the right hand side and that you mind your back!

Thanks all,
I have the Rear wheel and forks fitted so might be best fit lower engine in the frame.
I will fit pipe insulation to the tubes.
