New shocks needed

The handling on my Z1a has progressively got worse with each ride being more and uncomfortable. Fed up of being fired out of my seat each time I hit a bump I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations for replacement shocks.

Currently have the replacement pattern ones that looked the part when new but after 15 years a bit tired.

I have tried Hagons on my Kettle and they seem ok but are there any better out there? :?:

Many thanks

Koni "Dial a rides" are good and they come up second hand occaisionally the modern equivelant are Ikons I believe, but you could do lot worse than contacting hagon directly and talking to them as the are very approachable , just saying

Chris, my Z1b has Konis on it that seem to work well. There's an invoice for them from 1995 in the paperwork so they last well too.

Have you considered these, I thought they looked in keeping & they'd be custom built,

Thanks I'll follow this up. I suspect custom built units are going to be costly.

Thats acceptable Dave. I am not expecting stellar handling just something for a comfortable, safe ride.
The Hagon website appears to be under construction

Has anyone tried the ZPower shocks?????????

Oh

Why did you send them back :?:

From what I have researched the ZPower shocks are the best of the cheap shocks

Couple or three years ago now, but the damping was atrocious. Absolutely rock hard compression, like hardtail hard. Maybe i just had a bad pair. I ended up on Progressive shocks, which work really nicely and look good. Try contacting Motorcycle Revival for advice. Very helpful people.

It's a bit like tools or boots. Buy cheap, buy twice.

Just bought a set of Hagons for my A4 - stainless bodies and upper shroud with chrome springs, built for my weight (85kg) at £286 delivered and pretty much look stock. Haven't fitted them yet though. I think the current shocks are OEM style from Z Power, not sure how long they've been on (I've had the bike 5 years) but they've pretty much had it.

That seems a good price where did you get them from ?
I've pretty much decided to go for Hagons so shopping around now for best price. 5 years ago I paid Wemoto £205 for a pair of Hagons for my Kettle

Just looking at the fitting technicalities is it possible to remove the lower bolt for the shocks without disturbing the exhausts..........I am thinking do it whilst on the side stand......replacing one at a time of course.

Direct from Hagons, Part No 35007CC1 (Z1, Z900 and Z Thou) - looks like I'll have to swing the exhausts out to get to the bolts? personally, I wouldn't do this job on sidestand.
