Brain pick re whether people bother with the Slime/Goop stuff?

If yes, which one?

No, don't unless the products have changed in the last 10 / 20 years. A mate put some in his wheels on his VMax, when he came to have the tyres changed the fitter threatened to pull his willy off...

Lol.

Thanks for the reply, that level of service wasn't included when I had the tyres fitted!

I think you new gear is much better, most don't appear to go solid as they aren't the 'post puncture get you home stuff' and are water based

I use goop in my versys1000 and my fatbob but I wouldn't use it in tubed tyres on my z1. Remember to tell whoever is taking the tyres off .

That's good advice thanks, my old tyres did have inner tubes in, however the new tyres which have just been fitted are tubeless. The fitter just had to give the wheel rim a good clean.

If it’s tubeless just take a plug repair kit

Much better option

I also take a plug repair kit but I've never needed to use it since I've used goop. We had to plug a mates rear tyre a couple of years ago in Spain while going for a boat back to Plymouth, luckily we'd plenty of time , but if we hadn't we could have missed the boat, though using a sealant doesn't guarantee you won't get a flat tyre.

have you ever tried a plug repair in a tyre that has goop already inside it ?

No I never have, never really thought about it, sounds like it could be messy, I'm probably wrong in thinking if goop won't stop it leaking then a plug probably wouldn't either.
I started using goop when a few years ago I got a puncture in the rear wheel on my harley, in the middle of nowhere, no phone signal, no compressor with me , like I have now, the little gas bottles in the repair kit hardly put anything into the tyre, it was a long nervous ride to the next town, luckily I found a guy sat in his garden who had a 240volt compressor in his shed. The nearest fuel station was about 30 miles away.
