GPZ1100B2 1982 DFI question

I'm looking at a GPZ1100B2 that has a known fuelling issue and trying to get a better feel for a likely cause and solution before I part with any money! It has the original DFI system fitted.
The bike has an occasional fuelling issue whereby it revs up for no apparent reason. No warning lights on the dash. This issue can then disappear only to return at a later date!?
I'm not familiar with the DFI system and and wondering how robust and reliable they are 40yrs on. Can they be refirb'd easily enough? Some cause suggestions are air leaks, but i'd swap all hoses and pipes during any refirb anyway.
Realise I've not given much to go on but some info on the technical side of the DFI system would be also very helpful. TIA for any help...

Hi, When the bike is revving up do you get a warning light from the DFI box under the seat ? If so the box sends out a code a bit like morse code and you translate it from the shop manual
