I am hoping this is something easy to fix. If I leave my Z1000 A2 for more than a week, the clutch doesn’t initially work when the engine is cold. The clutch will release and work perfectly if I push the bike forward in gear or put it in gear with the front brake on. The bike leaps forward due to lack of clutch and then it usually works again until it’s laid up again. Someone suggested that there may be moisture in the oil which is causing the clutch plates to stick.
Any ideas.

Mine all do that to varying degrees.
I just hold the front brake for that first engagement and then it's fine.
Different makes of plates or oil may make a difference.
The stock plates in my Z1R seem less prone than the EBCs i have in the others but then again i use that bike more regularly.
If left long enough though they will all stick like glue.
Not really anything to do with moisture, just stiction between the plates..

Mine do`es it to, i just stick it in first ,pull the clutch in & rock the back wheel forward & backwards ( obvious when its not running ).

Thanks. Reassuring that I am not alone. I find it strange that this has never happened before and I have owned the bike since 1982.

She's like us.... getting old.

I have to stick myself in gear and rock backward & forward just to get out of Bed in the morning....

Most of mine do it, if you've a centre stand put it on that and start it, then put it in gear ,( before you start it if possible), then pull the clutch lever in then press the rear brake pedal.

I just leave mine with lever pulled in on any bikes not used regular, my british i just put a wooden clothes peg
at the end of lever over cable
