Cant seem to find it, can you post a link? the Vin number begins with a 5 so it is a USA built bike built in Nebraska for the US market, a little less desirable over here but the same bike none the less.

Bike 1. Pro. its a Japanese built A1 and nearly all there bar exhaust going for good money.
Con. It will be a fair amount of work to restore and the engine is quite a few numbers off.
Bike 2. Pro. Jump on a ride it, big smile on your face, fix what need to be fixed in your own time.
Con. Reserve isn't met and i would say he is looking for 8000+ but will cost less than a restore job.
Bike 3. Pro. Another jump on and ride bike, near all there, not a bad price.
Con. Needs a seat, exhaust, paint job, rear mud guard and air box, if you are going back to stock.
All decent bikes but also keep that z900 in mind or at lest keep and eye on it on ebay, its the best bike if you are talking investment.

Re: Looking for a project
Also 2nd bike says its has a Z1E 0684XX engine, that puts it in the 75 Z1b range, also its says the numbers were altered? id ask for a photo of the "altered numbers" before i jump into bed with this, just to see how hacked up the numbers are.
Re: Looking for a project
I'd think that the idea of buying these Bikes as investments is a thing of the past, Ageing buyers and present/future economic climate will mean that values will start/have started to fall.
Personally I'd just buy the 'Best' bike for your budget.

I am not looking to make lots of money or a big investment, i love to build bikes, i did lots of streetfighters over the years and lost loads of money doing it, but loved every one i did, i dont realy want to buy one done (i could afford it) i just want one to restore

Option 3 for me has a lot missing as you said, indicators broken and wrong, headlight and brackets, mudguard, seat air box are just a few bits missing, sprocket cover looks wrong and damaged but its a UK bike?
Option 1 looks mainly all their but still may need lots replacing or at least re-chroming, think i am leaning towards this one, or i just wait and keep looking?

I was watching this one recently as it looks a good candidate for a resto. As far as I know it didn't sell, so you could try contacting the seller and see if it's still available ?

Re: Looking for a project
If it were my money Dave id be knocking on Bike no.1's door and making an offer and paying 3500 max, ditch the tank, get the bike running and road worthy, brakes and suspension. Get decent body work and a decent paint job, do a clean up but dont break the bank. Wait until you find a lower number set of cases, they are out there, then do a total engine refub but in the spring ride it around a little and get used to her. It wont put you out of pocket even if you trow another 3500 at her. I paid 2500 euro for the bike below, came with a bunch of extra bits but im still happy with my money spent but they are rare in Ireland these days.
