Hi.
I would like to confirm what this lug is used for. I remember seeing a picture of a lock stowed in it, ? If so does anyone have details or know what its really for ?

Hi Alan

when the bike as new, you could buy a cable lock that was stowed away in the frame. Most didn't buy it and the hole was covered with a plastic cap.
If the cap was lost, the hole was open and water could get in the frame...where it stayed and the frame tube began to rust on the inside. That's why so many frames are cracked or broken at the place where the side stand is attached.
Make sure the plastic cap is in place!

Hi Baff, cable lock was a Kawasaki accessory that slid down the frame ,a handy item for locking your bike up or helmets etc .Had one on my old gpz1100b2.

I wondered what that was and why it was plugged. Presumed it was for oiling the inside of the frame as an anti corrosion. Which I may do anyway.

Hi.
Thanks for that. Never seen one installed either. Wonder how many were sold ? Must be a bunch of NOS items out there somewhere.

I knew the side stand attachment area is a weak point on the B2 era frame. The standard of side stand attachment welding leaves a lot to be desired [ and other areas ]. Had a good look at that area prior to powder coating.

Checked for the plastic bung when purchasing.

I and only ever use the main stand when possible.
