Tyres and tubes…

I have a tubeless tyre to fit to my z1000. Bike has alloy wheels, tyre is tubeless. In my head I believe this tyre will still need an inner tube due to the age of the wheel. Anyone that can confirm or tell me I’m talking rubbish?
Cheers,
Ian.

If you Clean the rim to within an inch of its life and use tyre bead seal as the lube you should be OK. Might take a couple of tries to get it to seal.
Alternatively use a tube and save all the hassle

Thanks Warren. What I’m a little concerned about is that I thought the old rims were different and the tyre didn’t sit deep enough to seal and tyre flex can be an issue.. I’m probably overthinking.

Mags were tubeless from the late 70's. If they are kawasaki mags they were designed for tubeless tyres.

i still fit tubes in my 1980 cast wheels even if the tyres are tubeless. Never had a problem.

They’re an odd valve size though it’s probably simpler to just go with tubes

They are specific to bikes. Car valves won't fit. They are available in different sizes, this is on Ralph's bikers toolbox.

No doubt. My local bike shop didn’t have the right size in stock so I just went for tubes on a set I got done last week.
