Afternoon guys,
I have removed the exhaust on my Z1B ( for a full winter clean) and when refitting I see 2 exhaust clamps are highly polished in one section and the other 2 are just a chromed cast finish.
Is this correct or do you think I have 2 original and 2 after market ?

Hello Laird O Fenwick
In my own experience, exhaust clamps for the early Zed series bikes are a bit of a mixed bag ! The clamp is made of cast metal and the rough edges are polished off before chrome plating. Some clamps seem to have had a bit more polishing than others ! Usually - in my own experience-, the edges of the cooling fins are polished smooth, also the areas around the two stud holes will look polished but this can be more variable from just a light polish with some casting marks still showing to, in some cases, a fully smooth shiny finish. There can be a fair amount of variation but if your clamps look like this description and it wouldn't be unusual if someone put the best clamps on cylinders 1 & 4 where they can be seen, then this would probably be within the normal range if standard condition original exhaust clamps. If however the clamps are FULLY POLISHED with no casting marks then its possible they've been to an aftermarket Chrome Plater and have been fully polished and re-chromed.
