Hello All,
It's been almost three years since I purchased it but I've just started the reassembly of my Z900 A4.
As you can see from the photos I have reassemble the forks and fitted them but I don't seem to be able to find any information as to torquing the main/ central stem bolt. As its tightened it clamps the head light brackets down onto the damper rubber rings / lower yoke. I'm guessing it's not too important as long as the brackets are held reasonably firmly but thought I should check.
It seems to skim over it in the main Kawasaki workshop manual - unless I'm missing it....

Looks like its 4-5Kg-m 29-36ft lbs on the 1000 which is the same.

Hi sean

it should be torcqed at 4,5 to 5 Kg/m.
Be sure that the big castle nut underneath is fast enough and that there's no play on the steering stem.

Thank you both very much for the replies. That torque setting is higher than I thought it might be, so I'm glad I asked.
I've got for separate manuals and none of them seems to cover this...
I have fitted tapered stem bearings and they are nice and snug - no discernible play but rotate smoothly.
