BT46 or Roadrider mkii

Sorry for a subject covered many times before.
On my standard Z900A4 I've previously used Bridgestone BT45.
It had metric tyres when got it but the last couple of changes I went for the imperial sizes as I think the profile looks better (3.25 x 19 & 4.00 x 18)
New tyres time, as always due to age not wear, and i see that both Bridgestone and Avon have updated their offering in the form of BT46 & Roadrider mkii. Both are available in imperial sizes.
As the Avon's are made in the UK I'm very tempted to try them.
Little difference in price, in fact the Avon's are marginally cheaper.
What is the verdict on the Roadrider mkii?
Should i stick or twist?
Cheers, Andy

Hi Andy
I don't have any idea how the Avon Roadrider MK II behaves but I do know for sure that all my bikes receive the BT 46 Battlax!
Those feel very safe and give good roadhandling on a bike.

Tyres are very much a personal choice Mine being Metzlers in various flavours over the last 40 odd years, but I doubt that there are any “bad “ tyres on the market these days except in the opinions of the experts, so you go with your gut or cost or whatever market forces influence you and make a note of the results for the next time

I restored a Suzuki GT750 a few years ago and used Avon Roadriders they absolutely transformed the grip and handling. Back in the 70s when i had one always recall the handling on either Dunlop TT100s or Avon Speedmasters (the best tyres at the time) to be unpredictable to say the least and almost lethal in the wet. Shows what 40+ years of tyre technology can do, different profile as new tyres are V shaped and have much gripier compounds. That said, I've always used Bridgestones on my modern
Hodna VFR and they too are excellent.
Sure either will give you a surefooted ride.
I am currently rebuilding a Z900 A4 it already had a brand new front tyre fitted, the rear was part worn but started cracking, no idea of age so it needed replacing. Options were replace with same make as front Challenger or remove both and replace for a pair of roadriders. Which i probably will do in the future, but opted for same make as front rear tyre (Challenger K657 120 90 18) Read the reviews which were pretty good so we will see what their like, will only be using in the warm dry weather anyway. Will keep you all posted on what my thoughts are, once its back on the road.
