Oops.....need tank repaired

After a little incident in the shed I now need to repair the tank from the z1000.
It has quite a deep crease in the side which would take about 3 tins of bodyfiller

I think it's well beyond my 'skills'.
Anyone any ideas on how to proceed?
Pressurise it? cut and weld?
I don't want to bin it as, apart from this, it's pretty clean.

Er thats quite some incident Pete! Bummer. If it were me I would take it to a car bodyshop, they have amazing gadgets to remove dents, bend and stretch metal etc, am thinking of the spot welded pullers here. They won't like it if tank smells of fuel though, I would rinse it out with hot soapy water then meths to get rid of water then spray inside with duck oil or similar. I am no expert and its very difficult working with filler on compound curves to get it right, its likely to need filling after worst is removed, maybe they could quote for that and you do the finishing coats?

If you've got a spare inner tube, stuff it in the tank down that side and SLOWLY in flat it. That will get most of it out and then heat it and tap any high spots back down. These will be at the end of any creases. A skim of filler and your good to go.

Don't cut it out, it's not easy to get a leak free weld unless your ever good at it.
