Z1100R v 1000R exhausts

#1 PostAuthor: Skid Mark » Mon Nov 06, 2023 9:09 pm

I'm trying to check if the exhausts on a 1000r and 1100r are interchangeable on CMS but I can only see a Kerker for 1000r and a 4/2 for the 1100, I don't know why I can't bring up the 4/2 for the thou? also tried Partzilla but no luck. Can anyone enlighten me? :whoa

From memory, if you bought a NEW Z1000R in the USA it came out of the dealers with a Kerker 4 into 1 fitted. If you bought the same model bike here in the UK it had a 4 into 2 system which looked much the same as the Z1000J system - except the 1000R exhaust was painted black whereas the J was bright chrome.
The 1000R exhaust for the UK looked much the same as the Gpz1100B1 / B2 exhaust, also painted black. All of these 4 into 2 systems mentioned had exhaust hanger brackets bolted onto the silencers. So far as I know, they are all interchangeable with the right brackets. As for the 1100R exhaust, it certainly looked the same as the earlier ones mentioned above but I cant say for sure. N.B. The Gpz1100A Unitrac exhaust has exhaust hanger brackets welded onto the silencers so is not a bolt on fit without modification to the brackets. Also, a Z1000 Mk2 exhaust (also 1000H) will "fit" using the early type Z1/Z1000 exhaust pipe collets the Mk2 ststem looks pretty much like the J. (there are some differences in the fabrication around the balance pipe but these would not be visible when fitted)
Please don't spend lots of money before you confirm all of this !
If anybody knows better I'm always happy to be corrected.
Best of luck finding ANY of the above mentioned original exhausts in useable condition !

Thanks Dave,
I'll let you know how it all fairs out. Might be a waste of time yet.
