Hi Guys,

Is there anyone on here who has or knows someone who has a good in depth working knowledge of the engine internals of the 75/76 Z400D twins.

I have a couple of questions that are very specific and would like to contact someone who knows these mechanically odd engines inside out.

If anyone can point me in the right direction I’d be grateful.

Thanks.

Thanks for the input guys.

I’ve been all over the kz400.com site for a long time now but questions still remain.

Regards.

Hi,

I need to talk about the differences between the balancer shaft mounting brackets (Different part numbers) and their orientation within the engine, particularly relating to the rounded shape of the ends of each of the 4 brackets.

Cheers.

Each holder has a machined smooth surface & one must face the sprocket side of the balancer . The other side of the shaft the machined / smooth side must face the balance web . The arrows on the holders should be pointed opposite each other. The front balancer arrows should be pointing towards the front of the crank cases & the rear balancer arrows should be facing the the rear. make note of the position of the arrows on the holders ? when assembled correctly the arrows should be closest to the outside of the holders
