Hi All haven’t posted on here for ages but I have what may be a stupid question but here goes.
All my Z1 experience in restoring Zeds has been on early Z1/A/Bs
But I now have a very nice Z1000a1 to play with. I’ve always fancied a Z1R and was wondering if I was fortunate enough to find all the parts required is it possible to “convert” into a Z1R looky likey without needing to do any drastic frame mods etc. Basically putting a Z1000 A1 into Z1R clothes in such a way that it could be reverted back to original at a later date. TIA.

Re: Z1000 A1 to Z1R
Frames are certainly different both on side panel mounting and at the back
Seat mounting different as is the switchgear.
Headlamp brackets and obviously clocks
I’m sure I’ve missed loads but back of the frame and seat mounting will the most work
Experts will be along shortly

I’d be tempted to buy a Z1r. Scratch that itch and then decide
I know of a nice Z1r for sale (not mine)

What he said ^^^. Sourcing all the conversion bits would be expensive and time consuming. then you'd still have to alter or modify your expensively acquired original Z1-R parts to fit.
