Re: z1000 a2
I have used the 550 before. I can get you the dimensions easy as iv one in the garage.
Re: z1000 a2
I have a zephyr 1100 Swinging arm in mine, with a 17 inch wheel. Would probably look odd with a smaller diameter wheel, so a 750 could be a good compromise.

Re: z1000 a2
hi,sorry its taken so long, but i checked the number with Dave Marsden at Z power and sure enough its an ltd frame, engine is proper A2 but frame is ltd,you can also tell by the rear footrest hanger which mine is kinda triangle shaped.....that is the only difference..and its done quite a bit..basically if the frame number has a B in it,its ltd..
Re: z1000 a2
Unfortunately not everyone who passes on a converted Ltd will be straight about it. It's a common conversion and can save on paying an inflated price for essentially the same thing all bar the number on the frame . It's a better bet to do some tasteful mods to it than a genuine A2 , not that it should matter but the rivet counters will throw their teddies if you upset the cart

so easy to tell just by looking at rear footrest hangers thou A's are unique to the model.

Re: z1000 a2
What size / type / style of wheel are you thinking about putting in there ?
More than likely there'll be someone on the forum who has done it before !

I put a Zephyr 750 swing arm and wheel in a Z1000 Ltd a few years ago and it worked well
I put the front end of the same bike on it too-it looked quite good and rode ok
I’m did some photos and put them in the projects section, they might still be there
The fitting was reasonably straightforward
