having trouble splitting rear calliper to fit new piston kit. Both Alan bolts stubbornly refuse to move.
would gentle heating be the way to go? i have repair kit so no problem with damaging seals but worried about distorting calliper.
thanks
john

I would expect that Kawasaki used a thread lock on those bolts so heat would be my thought. If you spray some penetrating fluid in there too that will help. If you have access to the dye-penetrant part of a metal crack detecting kit that would be perfect. The dye's job is to penetrate cracks in metal & will wick into the smallest of cracks/gaps making it a lubricant when you are trying to undo a stubborn screw/bolt.
You could even consider doing a few cycles of heat & penetrating fluid over a period of time before you actually go for the "undo" part.

When i rebuilt my Suzuki GT750 had same problem with the brake allen bolts too, i found an air windy gun ( impact type) or even the battery type invaluable it undoing subborn bolts. If the heat doesnt work try one of those, just make sure you have the correct size allen key bit and its impact suitable, some aren't. I bought one that came complete with numerous impact sockets and various bits too.
Hope you get it sorted.
