Shim replacement

Hi all,
I have read every posting I can find, but want to clarify one point when swopping valve shims. ( Z1000 1978)
What I have done ; Plugs out, cam cover off, measured clearances, need to change 2 inlets.
So, valve 1, rotate cam with kickstart until cam pushes valve fully open.
Fit kawa tool on carb side
Rotate crank backwards with spanner until cam is pointing away and tool is holding lifter down.
My question is, doing it this way (as per manual) hopefully avoids piston contacting valve but as I rotate the cam backwards, the exhaust can start opening , so is there any possibility the valves would tangle, or am I overthinking it :oh

If the cam timing is correct the valves cannot contact each other no matter which direction you rotate the crank.

Great, Thanks for that info, just was hesitating
Btw is a Kawasaki service bulletin that says the valve clearance should now be .10-.15 available anywhere?
It has been ‘discussed’ over a few beers and would be helpful to be able to point at something ,

Cam timing is ok.
Re read the manual several times,
Just to be 100% sure here, the inlet valve (cyl1) is held open by tool, rotate the engine backwards via timing bolt to point cam away from the shim, the exhaust valve starts to open, so no danger of valve to valve?
I don’t know how close these valves are, pretty close I would guess,
Is there a video somewhere of someone using the valve to and removing a shim,? Might help!

With the bucket held open by the tool you only rotate the cam so there's just enough clearance to get the shim out.
No need to point the lobe 180 degrees away from the shim.
Swap the shim and then rotate the cam back to so you can remove the tool.
Aim for 0.15mm clearance with stock cams.

Taking your time and the proper Kawasaki tool made it easy,
