Hi all,
I the past, to remove wheel bearings,
I heat the hubs with hot air gun and gently tap out with a suitable drift, when installing I heat the hubs again, carefully tap new bearings in after them being in the freezer overnight.
As wheel hubs are now valuable and I want to be extra careful when installing new bearings, can anyone recommend a kit or set of dies to press them in?
I don’t do this often so don’t need to spend ££££,
I dont have access to a proper press unfortunately so I was looking for something like the image I hopefully have attached,

that kit looks ok but whats wrong with tapping them in with a slightly smaller socket ? ive been doing it that way for many years. or get a length of 10mm stud bar and nuts then use the socket to draw them in.

or keep an eye open on facebook marketplace/ eBay for a person selling a set like above - you might get it for a song.
Having said that, I use a marginally smaller socket, or the old bearing to drift in the new bearing

Yeah agreed, no problem if done carefully,
I’ve seen people using a club hammer to remove bearings without heating, equally seen bearings installed ‘on the huh’
Just thought pressing in is a bit kinder to nearly 50 year old hubs,
A good idea, a threaded 10mm rod would seem easily doable!
