I was have a bit of a look online last night at the Web!ke online shop (in Japan) and noted that for new parts from the likes of Doremi that things are not as expensive as I had perhaps imagined they would be.
Z1 sidepanels are listed at about £23.00, and then the dreaded VAT and delivery, brand new seats for a Z1 are priced from £115 (!!!), so to my eyes things look to be pretty good value. I have just spent £200+ for a remanufactured Blandit seat and the japanese stuff looks a lot more interesting.
https://japan.webike.net/products/1522874.htmlHave any of you bought direct from Japan, and if so any tales to tell? Good or bad?

Buy all the time. Stay away from Fedex if you can, they are the worst out there. I use the EMS option, not sure how paying the duty works in the UK but the EMS works with the post office here in Ireland.

Thank you for the replies.
I think I will bite the bullet and order some parts.
I had issues with Fed ex recently when I bought things from South Africa so I will use another option.
I will report back, once my order has been made!

I have bought many parts over the years, including a set of Z1 doremi exhausts. Good service, the usual let down is at this end with the item in customs. You should look at webike.japan - a large number of quality parts.

Like i said iv used webike before, the other bit of advice is avoid sea fright, 3 months.. grand if what you buy is not that important straight away but a chore if it is. I buy used parts all the time and EMS is the best option, cheaper than a courier and nearly a fast as one.

Hi, I was looking at the webike site last night which makes good bed time reading. I am thinking that that is where I will order from. Thanks for the advice.

Exceptionally quick shipping.... like 3-4 days max. Had plenty from there over the years.

Thank you everybody for your replies.
I spent an hour earlier looking at the webike site, which has some amazing stuff, some of which I will buy (but is currently out of stock).
I was specifically after a pair of Z1 side panels and calculated that with postage and VAT from Japan that it would be cheaper to jump onto egay and buy from a UK seller who lists repro panels. Possibly the seller who was supplying panels to this club?
But for a lot of other parts I will buy from Webike and grin and bare it when I get hit with VAT etc.

In the case of side panels Zpower in the UK is £100 for 2 (plus shipping and im sure that wont be too bad) but you will have a 10% off if you are a paid up member here. Webike it would be £50 for 2 but even with EMS shipping and duty it will be as close to £90 anyways with all the hassle. Bigger hard to find bits webike is a good option but if i lived in the UK it would be Zpower all the way.

Forgot to say, bought a fuel sender assembly for the Z1-R TC (13L tank) and it was utterly useless.
The float wasn't fouling but no matter how much fuel you had in the tank it always showed ½ a tank so not all parts are good from there.
