Z900 A4. Rear brake plate catching the edge of the drum. All bearings are as they should be and the spacer is correct way round with the offset shoulder towards the drum side. Everything as the parts diagram . You don't have to bolt it in to realise it is going to rub, it's the outer edge of the plate rubbing the hub outer . Tried old shoes, plate in with just the bearing behind the plate. It's as if the plate wants spacing out from the bearing to give it the clearance it requires.. The bike was a running riding bike , not gathered parts , it's as it was albeit a few years ago , it's done 30k miles . Anyone else had similar issues?? Thanks

was the bearing you took out seized solid? If so, it could have been spinning its inner race against the inside of the brake plate, wearing the inner face of the brake plate down ( hence closing up the clearance between drum outer face and outer periphery of brake plate.)

That surface doesn't look damaged or worn but I am going to try to shim it out to see if it improves. I have all the spacers and bearings in the right order .

have the wheel bearings been fitted correctly ? one side bearing will go all the way in till it stops the other side will sit off the landing surface so their is a small gap, might be enough to clear the brake plate.

Thanks for the replies, I have found the problem . It's a slightly damaged hub , I didn't see it when the wheels were stripped probably about 10 years ago, you can't see it but can feel it . It would possibly grind out and be useable but don't want to chance it .. I now need a hub ...

I have an H2 hub which is dimensionally identical to a Z1 if you're struggling to find one.
