I painted my engine casing with cerakote came out well

Would you mind putting up details of the process? I heard it is pretty straight forward but no idea what is involved. I have a Kerker 4-1 that would do with some TLC but the only lad I came across in my neck of the woods is looking for my first born for doing the job.

Its a fairly specific process to do right, metal totally clean of oil or contaminants then needs degreasing and then to be blasted, i use medium grit aluminium oxide (it annoys me this forum spell checks the correct way to spell "aluminium") then the parts need to be decreased again. Bigger parts need a big tank. In the de-greaser i use 10L of paint shop de-greaser in a big plastic tube. There are 2 types air drying and oven curing. i use the oven, i heard its hardener wearing but C-type or air drying works too. Youtube below. If you are referring to the crowd in cork then yea they are a bit costy but seem to do good work and they say they grantee what they do.

Thats why i tried it myself ,my local guy wanted £1200 to to a stripped engine

Im using the air dry stuff ,i got it blasted and spent a couple of weeks cleaning and rinsing then bathing it in acetone in a big tub (not submerged )until i was sure there were no oils left . I had bought a pop up spray booth
So had a go ,there was very little overspray with the starter gun i used using c series air dry it take 5 days to cure but can be flashed in the oven , you could spray this outside in good weather with just a dust sheet down there was no mess,im ok with a rattle can but the spray gun was no problem,best to have a lot of stuff ready at once as you need to clean the gun afterwards.

It worked and thats the main thing and now you have everything you need for more bits. I have a spray booth and blast cabinet so im lucky there. Did you do a scrap piece to do a scratch test?

I did not ,I’ll wait until its cured first

Fair enough if they do good work, but, still expensive, but then again everything seems to have gone through the roof in the last few years. The only thing worst then paying top dollar is trying to save money and paying twice.

Thanks for the advice. I will look into it a bit more. I might be back to both you lads for more advice!
