Sorry to give you false hope mate, the point I was making was that he did nothing and I never did find out what was wrong. It was a light hearted post.
But as I said now days I connect mine to a car battery and use fresh petrol, If it floods open throttle fully then crank the starter with the choke off and the throttle open for about 10 seconds then try to start again, try with the choke off.
Good luck

SHE LIVES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

#33 PostAuthor: jakeymara » Mon Mar 23, 2009 9:57 pm

Thanks guys for all your help, couldn't have done it without you.

The bike lives!! A niff of fuel doesn't come into it now, she would turn over from the vapours of a fuel tank 20 foot away from the bike.

Just turned her over 15 minutes ago for a few seconds, before the wife came out complaining..but am I happy or what.

For future reference anyone else with this problem, I literally took onboard ALL advice given on this thread. But in the end the changes from a non starting engine were:

A) new carb jets,
B) adjust all valve shims to within tolerance, some were well tight,
C) changed from NGK to Denso plugs.
D) fresh petrol.

Patience and work though things logically.

I am euphoric at the moment, she will probably get a mile then break down!

Fantastic news its' great that it has been sorted out. Hate seeing these threads. Nice of you to acknowledge the help given by others. I wasnt one of them but was there in spirit reading through in case something was missed. Think of it this way; at least you wont have to do some of those jobs for at least the rest of the year and then some. I have been dogged by these in rotation. You got it all in one go and have done well to stick with,....... and see it through.

A mile you say!!!!!!!!! :D

The hand of Geoff

#44 PostAuthor: jakeymara » Thu Mar 26, 2009 11:25 pm

hi Geoff

I am in Sicily on business at the moment, Catania to be exact, you would need long arms to shake my hand at the moment. Not as long as my Mafioso friends though!

Look forward to seeing you at the Yorks rally. I will be strengthening my handshake just for you.

Hi irhobotolo,

The spark plugs are 'IW22' and yes, definate improvement.

You can try them in your triple aswell, I ran iridium's in mine and found a definate improvement & they should last a lot longer.
