carb overhaul kit..needle jet press fit?

#1 PostAuthor: gordon62 » Tue Jun 02, 2009 10:53 am

Hi all,
Just recived a Keyster carb overhaul kit, what an impressive piece of kit :P , I just wanted to ask about the needle jet before I fit it, it looked like a press fit, so I assume a light tap and the old one will come away and carefully press fit the new one..correct me if I"m wrong....
cheers,
Andy

Yes, it's a push fit, it's recommended to use a piece of dowel to push the old one out to avoid damaging the casing

I would soak in WD for a bit before knocking out with the dowel.

just a word of warning, check all the parts before you start and compare against the old ones! i ordered and fitted new carb kits for my Z900 A4, all went well after re-assembling found when the carbs were opened and closed that No. 4 was sticking. on closer inspection with the help of a mate we found that the needle in No. 4 was shorter and was sticking in the jet when closed.

here's a picture to show the difference:

the one on the left is the new one, the one on the right is the original

Phoned NRP (very helpful) sent me a replacement, NRP said it could have a faulty item or it might be a batch problem - so beware
