#1 PostAuthor: AndyZ1R » Tue Jun 05, 2007 10:28 pm

Hello all, i`m aiming at racing the Z1R at the North Weald RWYB this Sunday, pending weather and getting a van to take it in, anyone else going?

It will start around 10.00 - 11.00 am and yes it`s at North Weald airfield, i`ll probably get there around 9.00 - 9.30 am. Hope to see a few of you there.

Well it was a great day, thanks for turning up Steve nice to meet you, sorry i didn`t get to chat much. The bike went better than i hoped albeit with a few problems that may have been rider error, first run was 10.65 @ 132mph which i was quite surprised with, after not racing it for 8 months and with not alot of grip there i was pretty chuffed. Next couple of runs went downhill with shifting problems, seemed to take a couple of hits on the button (airshifter) to change from 2nd to 3rd with some very clunky later changes plus hitting the limiter with the missed shifts, these were 10.85 and 10.90.
Started getting better with a 10.62 @ 129mph. then final run of 10.52 @ 130mph. The chain went very slack on a couple of runs too, probably the adjusters in the Metmachex swingarm moving. But overall a great day out, plus met a guy called Mark on a Z1000 drag bike which was 1200cc highly tuned and running nitrous, he hadn`t run it for 3 years so was blowing the cobwebs out. We had 3 side by side runs which was great, i won 2 of them only because his nitrous wasn`t working properly! He`s a really nice bloke who`s really into his Zeds, so i`ll hopefully get to race along side him again, just so long as he hasn`t sorted his nitrous problems out!
Oh and cheers to Alastair for helping out, and running around all day getting sunburnt, top man!

Andy, get your bike to Santa Pod and it will do "nines" all day!!! Oh, then you can put some gas on. BUZZARD.
Every man should have a shed (for bikes obviously..)
