What make was the battery Ian? I have been researching these and the battery needs a BMS (battery management system) which should be able to allow for an overcharging scenario, that said there are many Chinese copies that do not have the systems
Boing have issues on the Dreamliner due to this problem

It was a quality one Mark JMT I was unaware you had to treat a lithium one differently. But every day is a new lesson waiting to happen. No damage done to the bike just the battery and my wallet lol
Reg/rec comb unit fitted tonight just to be on the safe side.
