Japanese Classic Bikes

#1 PostAuthor: Philippe » Sat Apr 13, 2019 3:27 am

Hi guys
on May 1 there's a meeting in Belgium at Enghien (Edingen) .
It's organised by "Retrotuning" and it's a yearly event. Retrotuning is a company founded by Jean de Kerangal (the Belgian Champion in 1976), a Frenchman who lives in Belgium.
It used to be a very big event with lots of old Japanese bikes. It started in 2010 and was held in Ronquières for 4 years. In 2015 the location changed and after a few years with very bad weather the location changed again to a big building near Brussels.
This year it's held in a small town, Enghien at the border of Eastern Flanders and Hainaut, just at the exit number 26 of the E429 (A8).
If the weather is fine I'll be there! It's only a 30 minutes ride from where I live.
I'll take some pictures and post them. I hope to see a few of you over there, who knows...
Cheers!
Philippe

the beginning

I arrived at 8.40 AM, I recieved ticket number "1"
After one hour or so, other Japanese classic bikes started to arrive.

after one hour

At 11 AM a little ride out of about 45 miles started, one hour later most of the bikes returned.
There were a few stands where bikes or parts were for sale.

Triples for sale!

All brands for sale

A beautiful 500 triple

I didn't buy a bike , they were all too well restored for me :D
Unfortunately no Kawasaki parts for sale :(
I had a chat with some old friends from Belgium and France and made some new acquaintances.
About 200 visitors made it to Enghien, most of them came with classic bikes, others with newer ones.
In 2014 about 1000 bikes came to the event, since then the numbers are dropping ...I hope they will rise again.
At 2.45 PM I went home, I had a very nice day, the sun was shining, life is beautiful !
Just looking forward now for the 2020 meeting!!!

Hi Gonzo
I went there with the MK2.(picture 1)
During the meeting I was talking with many different persons and I forgot to take pictures of the parking filled with bikes...
