I'm sure this has been discussed before.......
I've been reading through the list of event's, meeting's, rally's, and general confusion!! I thought Paul Doran was elected as coordinator for all club events.Given the season is nearly over maybe this is the time to get this sorted and organised.

yes Davy I am meeting's and event's co-ordinator but it is a free for all at the moment
I think this does need looking at and I will discuss it at the AGM at Stafford

if we're going to have an official events management process then it needs to be clearly articulated ahead of time and managed in a timely way.
Is it going to be for just official Z1OC events or all events including ad-hoc ones, sunday jaunts, classic bike shows, sprint events etc etc ?
People will still need/want to make ad-hoc arrangements - e.g. meeting points for stafford etc - is paul going to control/manage these ? - I think unlikely and a lot of work if he does !!
just my $0.02

Maybe Chris could look into having a calendar so that entries could be made by the events coordinator (Paulie?). Ensuring things don't clash / event timings. accessible to anyone but only changeable by those responsible.
This would be replicated in the mag for those without / not wishing to use internet access, another page filled up. Nice heading, couple of photo's, map or two and that's two pages

Paul is the events coordinator and should have been informed of all official club meetings and intended meetings etc,
It seems to me members just decided to have an event and then posted their intentions without so much as contacting Paul,
Now i know it will be a lot of hassle but if given a chance I'm sure it would be better for every one rather than reading through the chaos that it is at the moment, And then there is the problem of members bumping their own meetings just for the sake of having it on top of the board,
Something to chew on!!!!

I suppose Paul would have make that clear Chrisu,
My original post was to draw attention to the chaos on the meetings and events section, that's all. i would think if Paul would let us know what's what it would help clear things up?

As a new area rep, I asked the senior members what was expected of me and how to go about stuff and this is the first time I have heard that there was an events coordinator

I shall be attending the AGM at Stafford, lured by the tales of drunken immorality and debauchery, and so will hopefully be filled in on stuff like this.
Rich's comment about having an official calendar of club events, and events likely to clash, that might detract from a zed meeting eg one wouldn't want to hold a meeting at the same time as say Stafford, seems eminently sensible.

okay let me clear up a few issue's
firstly it is not a problem if two even't clash as long as it would not detract from the other which is unlikely and given that the event calender is quite busy it maybe difficult to prevent same date clashe's
while I would clearly promote all Zed or Club event's I don't see a problem
promoting other event's if asked
I do support the notion that any upcoming event is kept ahead of any other meet that is scheduled for a later date
I have not been too active as co-ordinator as of late but intend to go for it from now on

i think the point I was making paul is that for official events I'd support events being planned and on a calendar.
For ad-hoc/unoffical stuff its an unnecessary overhead.
If I want to meet other Z riders I do not need or intend to seek anyones permission.

Personally I agree with the above. If the "event" is sponsored (ie banners, advertising etc) by the Z1OC then it should be co-ordinated,
If it is just a group of people talking b********s in a pub then that would be unnecessary.
