Z1000 ready at last !!

#1 PostAuthor: AlanB » Fri Nov 11, 2016 6:00 pm

Acquired this bike 6 months or so - Long storey but only covered 14k miles with one owner from new and had been standing for 7/8 years but in dry conditions.Following a load of work inc full service, new brakes, replacement brake fluid, new Road Runner tyres, regulator/rectifier, starter solenoid, carbs flushed and cleaned and an MOT she is ready for the road - Ran her for the first time today - Awesome - Just need a few sunny and dry days now !!

Lovely z1000, could it be a Piper exhaust? Bit long for an Alpha...plus they usually exit left?

I'd guess at a Piper. Would expect it to make some good money in that condition.

Pier Exhaust

#10 PostAuthor: AlanB » Sun Nov 13, 2016 4:58 pm

Would it be worth getting the exhaust re-chromed - what about the internal components etc ?

I doubt its worth rechroming the exhaust, they would have been 'built to a price' using single skin headers & will quickly discolour again.

Something like 'Blue Job' polish may help, but will ultimately remove the chrome plating that is there.

I love this bike, it is exactly what my remodelling of Pigford's Ltd will be based on.
Cheers,

Mark.
