Re: My new build
cams are in the elr decided on new shims seeing as every thing else in the valve train is new, should be here monday then dial cams in (i have been advised 17° is a goog choice) please feel free to comment chaps.
then its carbs on, i have already done float hights needle position and jetting and air screw so hopfully wont need to much fine tuning.
still got to bugger about with sprocket off set for the cma wheel and 530 chain conversion. took a gamble on a debben 3/8 offset srocket so fingers crossed.
theres an update in my project thread 'z1100r my tale of woe'.

Do you mean 107 degree lobe centres ?
What cams are they.
Re: My new build
yep thats the one silly me. cams are std at mo. as dollar exchange rate is poo. if it gets better its time for a set of web cams.

Re: My new build
Stock setting on STD is 110 degree lobe centres.
To give more top end close the centres to give more bottom end spread them.
107 - 108 is proven to perk it up a bit.
I would degree them at the std 110 initially as a base line.
You may be surprised how well it goes like that.

Re: My new build
its now 1170 and with matched ports/ stage 1 flow will be running rs36 carbs if that makes a difference. links all come up error 404 must be old server address.

Re: My new build
Personally i'd still start at 110 with the std cams whatever the spec ( unless it's an identical spec I've used before).
It will still go well and you will have a set-up to compare to if you are after wringing the neck out of the possible power available.
All depends on what you are trying to achieve, going straight for high rpm power might make it a pig lower down for town traffic.
End of the day 107 will work but you won't know if you have gained or lost anything substantial over the stock timing for everyday use but then again if you have reliable informed info that 107 works well with you engine spec then go for it.
Yep! old server address. Need to change all the project links on my profile too
