宮城成義 Mr Miyagi my dream bike Kz1000 A1

#1 PostAuthor: damien.wrl » Wed Feb 14, 2018 10:30 am

Had one over 15 years ago strayed into sports bikes for a while in my mid life crisis, currently in full late life crisis mode returned to my fave machine . Been looking for some time and finally ended up with this 4K mile Dec 76 build import... pictures are as it was delivered, few issues to be dealt with but the plan is to clean it to death and keep it preserved as is... trying to sell a car to create garage space then I can get at it ..
very happy bunny so far

That looks lovely and very original and more importantly has the all hallowed standard exhausts and airbox!

Hope you enjoy it!

Looks VERY nice and as said Original pipes make all the difference.

Think you'll need a bigger tube of Solvol than the one in the picture though.

Yeah she's a beaut alright Damien - They are addictive as I had a Z1000 in 1978 and came back nearly 40 years later - Mines a couple of years younger than yours :biggrin

They are the prettiest bikes around...just what a classic British bike should have looked like ( obviously with a few more oil leaks)

Lovely looking 'survivor' - don't use Autosol it's far too abrasive, try Meguiar's metal polish it's a fine paste, but not cheap.

Autosol has it's uses Andrew, but I'd agree not on 'already' polished cases.

This was the lump on my old Z1B when I first got her...

After A LOT of hours with a scotch pad, tooth brush and Autosol it came up like this...

That said, no amount of hand polish can match a proper set of polishing mops.

My old Z Thou which I did on the buffer. :D

That's excellent work Garry, and I know getting it there is no easy task - been there done that on classic cars and my A4, which is still a work in progress.

Yes, Autosol has an initial job to do, although preserving it to that standard is not its job, but where the specialist products come into their own.

Beautiful work but I think I need to keep it factory where they didn’t put that much effort in, it will be hard not to shine up the covers and ends of rocker covers though
