Hi guys
I was able to buy a wreck of a Z1B in Ghent. It looks like a Z1000 but it's a '75 Z1B.
There's a lot of work to be done to make it shine again but nothing i can't handle.
See for yourself.
Don't get frightened, the pictures won't affect your bikes!

As you can see there's a lot of work to be done.

a cooling fin snapped off sometime in the past. :??

a home made seat lock

the seat lock is "original" as all the other parts on the bike. :eek

the ultimate way to secure a duck tail

just look at this product of the Belgian cottage industry, a very safe way to secure a duck tail

the wiring

who the f**k needs a fuse when the loom is in such a perfect condition? :whoa
So this is what i've bought. It's not perfect but with a lot of elbow grease , work, time, effort and money she'll be a nice bike once again.
Just be warned: if you don't have any experience on restoring bikes: DON'T BUY THIS !!!
Greetings from Belgium

Hi Guys

thanks for the encouragement! I promise I'll start a thread but you'll have to wait untill after the summer.
I'm working on a Z1000Police (P4, 1985) bike at the moment.

Looks like you've got your work cut out there Philippe.

Always amazes me though how people let these bikes get in that state in the first place. :??

Hi Garry
the bike stood in a garage (?) for more than 20 years ... completely neglected. The owner wanted to get his bike on the road again and took it to a repair shop...they told him it would cost him at least 2500 Euro to get it back on the road again (new tires, new oil, spark plugs, carb refurb, new chain and sprockets and everything else to get it more or less "safe"). He decided to buy a new Z900 and sell his Z1B wreck.
My collection is complete now from a '72 Z1 to a Z1000MK2(A3) :D
Cheers
Philippe

If it's not too indiscreet Philippe, how much did it cost you?

Hi Gonzo
as this Z1B was the only type I didn't had in my collection I was willing to pay 2500 Euro for it. I know it's about £ 2000 but I wanted it so badly.
It came with all the papers and there where 4 new carb refurb sets with it  ...and a lot of fun to restore it in the future. :D
There's a Z1000 A1 tank, side panels and a duck tail on it and I have most of the Z1B parts to restore it so I couldn't resist, I was allready searching for a Z1B during a few years.
Greetings
Philippe

Not too bad a price to be honest and if you want to sell the 2-4 seat it came with then please let me know?

Hi Gonzo
the seat and 4 in 1 exhaust are allready promised to someone. I don't like to sell parts, I prefer to swap them for old genuine Kawasaki parts. It's nicer to swap parts with someone who has parts that you're missing. After all what's the value of an old, damaged Guiliari seat that doesn't attract me ? I would feel shame if I asked money for it.
No offence to you!!! I don't know how to explane it otherwise in English. :blush
