Top fun Baz I did it for a couple of years 1990 onwards and its great fun. These days you are allowed different brakes and wheels. We were stuck with 19" fronts and std rim rears. But you could do whatever tuning you liked.
Mental when I look back! No wonder I fell off a lot, (or maybe I was just crap.)
If you can get an 18" front you could run Am22/23's expensive but great race tyres warm up quick which is what you'll need for 6 lap dashes. If you stick with the 19 try the Conti Track attacks they do them in classic sizes and many endurance teams run them.
You may also need to tuck up your vance and hines.
Here was my effort back in the day 1st race at Mallory

After finding a standard zed would not cut it with all the 1100's with tuned carbs I ran this; 1085cc flowed, cams total loss and 33mm smoothbores. Fast as anything! But had to replace the tank after a get off at richies!
Managed a fourth place on the GS though but always preferred the zeds so Then Ran this for a bit,
Definitely the best thing I ever did !
I would go back tomorrow but I am not allowed to race anymore, so just do the classic bike trackdays, with a load of other ex-earlystockers who should be old enough and are fat enough to know better!
Keep us posted on your progress!!
