Your phone camera adapts so the image displays rwu no matter how you turn the phone then you're taking it, but it can display wrong on another device. If it taken on a phone upside down then viewed on a tablet or phone they can detect the orientation info and display it correctly, also in the web browser. Sometimes a laptop or desktop browser can't read that so displays it as recorded and shows upside down.

That makes sense, but it doesn't explain why a picture that shows UTRW on my desktop uploads USD to the forum. Even If I rotate it to USD on the desktop then upload it it still shows USD on the forum :whoa

It's rotating it to view. Open it in a photo editor - it might even open the right way up - then save it. It should work then.

If I double click on the USD photo, it opens the right way up. (On a Mac lap top)

Nice collection of bikes, I'll take the middle one please!

It does the same on my desktop. It's just different things detecting the orientation differently.

Thats what I thought but I am rotating it in editor and saving in the rotated format. It the shows USD on the desktop so it has saved as intended using a picture viewer but still shows USD on the forum. :whoa There seems to be no reasoning to it no matter what I do.
Even more confusing some taken at the same time so the camera is the same way round show UTRW yet others show USD.

Anyway, when I tap on the picture, it rotates and shows the Z1R in the right position
