New arrival - super nice 1000J

#1 PostAuthor: Ultim8pc » Thu Jun 06, 2019 10:39 am

Picked this beauty up today - very tidy and original. The odd paint chip here and there. No rust. Carbs need looking at.
In theory I have bought it just to take off the exhaust to fit to my MK2 and then sell it... But that might be a shame?

Wow, great find. Put the exhausts on the MK2 and sell that. Turn this one into a nice resto mod. That is, if you are into that ..

Thanks all.
Found the bike in my usual scouring of t'internet. Bought the bike from Germany. It's owner has been fastidious with maintenance and says the bike has never been out in the rain. (and looking at the condition I can believe that).
The exhausts are in A1 condition and it's kind of a shame to take them off, but needs must I guess.
Ideally it needs a Kerker exhaust on it, but they are pricey. Might put a Marving 'Master' 4/1 on it when I sell. Or maybe I sell it with no exhaust so the new owner can choose?

I love the 1000J's, that one looks very clean too...but I could not get past the colour, it's horrid (IMO). It'd have to be painted
Why do I persist in debating with idiots ? I really should know better :)

Agreed, original but not my favourite colour !
I have a spare 4-1 J exhaust, so might be interested if you come to sell it without one ?

But then it wouldn't be original...

Beautiful shape those bikes, stunning. Enjoy. (Although the red coloured ones looked better!)

Fair point ...but if you take off the stock pipes and especially if you fitted a 4-1, it's not original anyway :)

It'd be worth a lot more too with the original exhaust ?

Good question, haven't decided yet as there isn't much data to go on. You don't see many for sale, if you do they are 'modded'. Not seen one in this condition for a long time - last one was from some German restoration house.

Hi Ultim8pc
removing the exhausts and replacing them by a 4 in 1 would be a major crime and should be punished by hanging on a tree until death follows! :mad
Please don't do it, keep the bike as she is, it's original, complete, very tidy and maybe one of the few original survivors.
