Z1000H - Database
We are trying to find out how many Z1000H still exist and want to set up
a database. Does anyont know figures of production and sales ?
I think they are only sold in Europe - ist this correct ?

I have tried unsuccessfully for years to get a clear picture of this. However, here is what i have figured out!
Kawasaki made two versions of the 1980 Fuel injection. One for the European market called the Z1000H, and one for the US market called the Z1000G or Classic. Two completely different styled bike but with the same basic engine with one main difference though; The Z1000G engine was stamped with a 'GE' prefix, whilst the European H was stamped with a 'HE' prefix.
The bikes that were earmarked for the UK only had the 'HE' prefix. Whilst bikes sold in Europe had either the 'GE' or 'HE' prefix. People say that the 'GE' prefix was only for GErmany.....this is not true. I have bought original 'HE' prefix bikes from both Germany and Nederlands (registered from new in those countries).
I have owned many H's over the years (and still do ) I have never seen a 'HE' prefix bike with an engine serial number over XXX600, highest i have seen is around 560.
Here is my view on what happened, there could be two scenarios:
1.
Kawasaki started manufacturing the Z1000H with 'HE' prefix engines for the European bikes and distributed them to UK and a few other countries (200 is the popular figure for UK). The market demand wasn't there so they stopped the production line. Problem is, they had a stock of Z1000H chassis with no engine, therefore the most logical thing would be to install 'GE' prefix engines from the Z1000G Classic production line. Demand in Mainland Europe was better so all those Z1000H's with the 'GE' prefix engines were shipped only to mainland European and maybe a few other places.
2.
Kawasaki made around 500-600 'HE' prefix motors and then decided to streamline production. Therefore they closed the 'HE' prefix engine production line and started putting 'GE' prefix engines in what was left of the Z1000H production run.
Over 3000 Z1000G Classics were manufactured and shipped to the states with 'GE' prefix engines, if scenario 2 is correct then all you guys with 'GE' prefix engines will potentially have quite high engine serial numbers.
Therefore, based on this and to add a controversial opinion, if you ain't got a 'HE' prefix motor then you ain't got a 100% pure Z1000H
