I’ve bought a GPZ 550d1 with loads of spares. It has a Harris pipe and I intend to add a couple of other 80’s add ons.The last owner had it 29 years. It needs some work but was cheap.

It has Z400j 1980 paint work.I never had 550’s as I went from a Z400j to a Z750L3 in 1985.

I went from Z400J to GPZ750R1 back in the mid 80s, so almost the same route, and I've a Z400J project now.
That's a nice bike you have there, IMHO that style of bike is the nicest shape of all the air-cooled 4 cylinder Kwaks.
Fun bikes to work on, enjoy. I'm a bit jealous.

Very nice, do you want to buy 4 genuine new metal spark plug caps for it, which I think was standard from new on that model.

That looks like a nice bike you have there :)

I nearly bought a 550D1, but waited until the 550H1 came out in '82 and bought that instead. I still have it and I'm currently rebuilding it after many years languishing in my shed !

Mark.

I have a rebuild thread under the "Projects" section, so you can keep an eye on progress (or lack of it)

Another lovely looking 550.

Maybe we should get an area on this forum, dedicated to the GPz/Z 550 :wink

Not forgetting the bike that started it, the Z500.
This was mine back in 1980.
