Hello from sunny Worcestershire

Hi,
Just signed up to the club and thought I'd post a few pics of my Z1000st. 53K on the clock and a UK bike from new, stills rides like a champ and loving the Delkevic 4into1 which is crisp without being offensive. Had MKIIs back in the day and would love another one.
Looking for a standard seat if anyone has one to sell or trade? Absolutely any condition considered.
Cheers, Rob (Bert)

Thanks for the welcome :D
The ST is certainly underrated! Not sure why it didn't sell in enough numbers to keep it on the books.
Any meet ups or rallies lined up this summer?
Cheers,
Bert

Hi, Its a Delkovic from DK in Stoke. Reminds me very much of the old Alfa pipes some of us had back in the day. They are available with a cone silencer too for a slightly more standard look :D

Hi Bert

welcome to the club!
Very nice Z1000ST (E2 ?) you have there!
Are you sure it's a UK bike? It has some KZ (US) items on it. Red reflectors in the tail piece, orange reflectors beneath the headstock on the frame tubes.
I'm a fan of the Z1000ST and have 3 of them (for the moment) in my collection but already restored 5 or 6 more.
They are very reliable but very under estimated.
Let the good times roll !
Greetings from Belgium
Philippe

Hi Philippe,
Thanks for your message. You had me doubting the pedigree so I've checked the V5 and it states first registered March 1979. I have a 1970 Guzzi Ambo which is an Italian import and that states date of first registration 1990 so I'm a little confused about the American spec you mention.
I suppose it's possible a previous owner made some restoration with US parts.
It's a mystery!
Cheers, Bert
PS. Do you have or know of a standard seat available for the ST??

Hi Bert
I thought it was a US import because of the reflectors. Check out if there's a cable guide for the clutch cable on the left hand side of the upper part of the head stock. These were only mounted in the US.
The short rear mudguard is also a clue but the long originals were often replaced by a short one or the long original was cut off in the past.
For the moment I don't have an ST seat, I also don't know where you can find one.
They become rare and sometimes it's difficult to find one in a good shape. Mostly the seat pan is rotten, that's the "hard to find part".
A seat cover can be ordered at "Pit Replica". These are nicely reproduced with the double row of "stiches" and they fit very good.
If you need an original seat look at the internet, that's how I sometimes manage to find one. Take care, the seat pan of an ST is broader than the one of a MK2 because the frame also is.
Good luck with the search.

Hi Philippe,
There is nothing like that on my headstock so hopefully that confirms it's a UK bike.
Cheers, Bert

Hi Chris,
Cheers, I feel quite lucky to have this one. Had a few carb issues which I've sorted with new inlet rubbers a float height reset, now starting and running really nicely :D
