Mk II

#1 PostAuthor: j.b » Sun Oct 20, 2024 12:41 pm

Hi, thought I’d share a couple of photos of my z1000a3 that I bought in march this year. The bike has 15k miles and had been in storage since 1990, it had been fitted with the front and rear ends from a gpz750 unitrak including the mono shock. All of this was quite worn out so I have reinstated the twin shocks and fitted a new front and rear using parts that I’d collected over the years, I’ve also used a set of 29mm smooth bore carbs that I had.
I like the patina of the 80’s paint job and original frame and engine finish and I’ll run the bike like this for the time being. Yesterday was my first ride out so there’s some adjustments and things like indicators to fit but I’m really happy with it so far…..

Ride and enjoy, that's what they're for.
Plenty of time to tweak and fettle into what you finally want it to be.

Probably rarer than a Z1 in the UK now . Many were exported back to Japan when they were cheaper in the 90's . I used to supply BAT motorcycles with various models 250' and 400 but never found a Mk 2 . They always had a few ready for shipping when I was at their Biggin Hill warehouse.
